UFC Vegas 36 - Till vs Brunson Predictions & More

September 2, 2021

UFC Vegas 36 is a Fight Night card starting at 1PM EST this Saturday in Las Vegas. This card was initially supposed to take place in England, but current world circumstances forced the location back to Vegas, and also made the fight count short. We have just 10 fights in total.

The main event between Darren Till and Derek Brunson will play out as a striker vs grappler matchup in the middleweight division. Brunson has enjoyed a late career renaissance as he has returned to his wrestling ways. He is on a four fight win streak in which he’s landed a combined 16 takedowns and at least two per fight. This is clearly the path for him as his previous six fights produced just a 2-4 record and a combined two takedowns.

Brunson takes on elite striker Darren Till. Till is in the upper echelon of middleweight strikers, and if we are looking at fights Brunson has had with similar fighters, the results are not good. He was knocked out in the first round of his fights with both Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya. In order to avoid a trio of these knockouts, he is going to have to not only land takedowns, but find a way to control Till on the floor. Till does not accept position even when taken down, and creates scrambles to get himself back to his feet.

I do not believe Brunson will be able to avoid the stand up portion of this fight long enough to come away with a victory, but I am also not rushing to lay the -175 on Darren Till.

From a betting perspective, we will only have two plays on this card, and it will be two ITD plays on fighters I fully expect to find early finishes. Let’s get to the UFC Predictions for UFC Vegas 36.

Tom Aspinall -250 vs Serghei Spivac

Betting Pick: Aspinall ITD -155

Betting Pick: Jourdain ITD +120
