19 February 2021
Tom Aspinall -250 vs Andrei Arlovski
Fight is at heavyweight and is -170 to end inside the distance.
Betting Play: Aspinall ITD -120
I am excited for the next chapter in my favorite heavyweight prospect’s rise. Tom Aspinall will get his biggest fight to date in the veteran Andrei Arlovski, and he will take his next step in his journey from prospect to contender.
Arlovski has been around the promotion for 21 years now, and we fully know what he brings to the table. He is no longer a dangerous finisher, but knows how to hang around, force fights to his slow pace and most often just tries to eek by on the judge’s scorecards. He has done so in both of his most recent fights against Tanner Boser and Philipe Lins, but Aspinall is a different animal than the aforementioned two fighters.
Tom Aspinall is a complete and well rounded heavyweight, and one that will not be phased by Arlovski’s veteran tricks. Aspinall has very crisp boxing and has real pop in his hands.
He has become a knockout artist on the feet, but that is not his greatest strength in MMA. He is quite a sound BJJ black belt and a sound wrestler that can force fights to the floor if he so chooses.
Once there, he surely knows how to lock up submissions should they present themselves, but his ground and pound is his greatest weapon on the floor. In any event, Aspinall, not Arlovski will dictate the pace of this fight, and that will lead to yet another finish for Aspinall.
This UFC Vegas 19 fight should be viewed more like the quick KO loss Arlvoski had against Jair Rozenstruick than that of his most recent opponents. Aspinall brings that level of finishing ability and his -120 ITD line is the avenue of attack.
