Texas Longhorns vs. Indiana Hoosiers Betting Picks

The 2-0 Texas Longhorns will meet up with the 2-0 Indiana Hoosiers on Tuesday afternoon in round two of the Maui Invitational at 1:30 PM ET. You can watch the showdown on ESPN. The Longhorns struggled in their opening matchup while Indiana soared. Let’s dive into how this game will go down and who will end up covering the spread. The Longhorns are 2-0 to this point and beat the Davidson Wildcats 78-76 in the opening round of the Maui Invitational. They did it with a balanced attack as every player in the starting lineup got into double digits. Courtney Ramey led the team with 14 points and he’s averaged 17.5 through two. Andrew Jones and Matt Coleman III surround Ramey on the perimeter and both are 10+ PPG type of guys.

Forwards Jericho Sims and Gabe Brown are solid down low, but they must do a better job defensively and they have to stay out of foul trouble. The Davidson Wildcats got into the paint all game and the Longhorns will have trouble with Indiana if they don’t make the proper adjustments. Ramey and co. will perform offensively, but they must step up on defense.

The Hoosiers had a much easier time in the opening round and beat up on the Providence Friars 79-58 in a game that was never close. They’re led by sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who’s going to be a top-10 pick in next year’s NBA draft. He’s a monster and put up 12 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks against Providence. Junior forward Race Thompson put up 22 points against the Friars, which is more than he put up in any 2019 game.

Senior guard Al Durham adds a nice experience factor and he’s been great with nine points, six rebounds, and four assists per game. The Hoosiers are a very interesting team this season as they have an anchor in the middle and four shooters surrounding him. They’re going to give Texas a tough game.

The Hoosiers are a downright solid team and they’re going to give anyone a problem with Trayce Jackson-Davis in the middle. He looks to have turned a corner as well and he was already a beast in 2019. You add some phenomenal weapons on the outside and I expect them to beat a Texas team that struggled mightily with Davidson just yesterday. Texas can always get hot from beyond the arc, but I like Indiana to win this one outright.

I like both of these offenses and I’m not sure either defense is impressive. The Hoosiers are solid in the middle, but Texas doesn’t want to score that way anyway. Indiana will have plenty of offensive success themselves and I like this total to fly over. It’s not my favorite bet in this game, but I do side with the over. I’d rather just bet on the Hoosiers to advance.
