Tamba Bay Lightning outclassed the New York Islanders in game 1 of the Eastern Conference when winning 8-2 on Monday. The Lightning have 5 straight wins and a goal difference of 25-9 in these 5 games. This team is on fire and even though this, most likely, will be a tighter game compared to the first encounter, I am quite confident that the Lightning will win.

New York Islanders – Tampa Bay Lightning
08.00 PM ET, Wednesday, September 9
Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Islanders 8-2 in game 1 of the Eastern Conference final on Monday. That was their fifth straight win since they won four straight when eliminating the Boston Bruins in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Game 1 was a demonstration from a high-end skill team that currently looks unbeatable.
New York Islanders have knocked out the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers on their way to this Eastern Conference Final but in game 1 they did not stand a chance. The underdog of this series have been playing such a disciplined and hard-working hockey through the entire postseason but they failed to cope with the Tampa Bay team on Monday.
Conclusions and betting play: Even though the Lightning were the favorites before entering this series, the result 8-2 was unexpectedly uneven. They really capitalized on their chances and even though they were the better team the result maybe was a little bit on the upper edge in the favor of the Lightning.
Nevertheless, it will be a mentally tough challenge for the Islanders to come back after being outclassed in game 1. Tamba Bay Lighting seem to get better and better as this playoff proceeds. This win was their 5th straight and the goal difference of these past 5 games is 25-9 in total.
I am quite confident that the Islanders will tighten their defensive play in game 2 but I am also quite confident that the Lightning will take advantage of the momentum from game 1. The Tampa team has it all right now: big, strong, and skilled defensemen such as Viktor Hedman and a leading line that seems unstoppable. Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point each had five points in game 1 and their confidence is dazzling at the moment.
All in all, I believe in a tighter game compared to game 1 but I just cannot see the Tampa Bay Lightning losing this one.
