16 November 2020
Let’s take a look at Monday Night’s free NFL expert picks.
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
Opening Line: Bears -2 and 45
Current Line: Vikings -3 and 43.5
This NFC North battle should be a close one on Monday night, but the betting public has taken a clear stand on a side, and has not relented. The recent success of Dalvin Cook has made the Vikings look very very good and tough to beat the last two weeks, but I am unsold on the run game carrying that level of dominance against the Bears.
The Bears have not allowed a 70 yard rusher in over a month, and that includes matchups with Derrick Henry and Alvin Kamara in their most recent two games. The defense of the Bears will remain the strength of the team, and that means containing the Cook surge of late. Oddsmakers seem to agree with me, as his rushing prop os set at just 86.5 yards, which I believe to be a fair line.
We know the difficulties the Bears offense has from time to time, but Nagy giving up play calling certainly can’t hurt any, and the Vikings defense is one that has graduated to just good enough, after a very rocky start to the year. I expect a low scoring game and a close game, and it makes it a dog/under or pass spot for me. While I’m passing, if you’re forcing action, the Bears and under are my leans.
With Allen Robinson appearing to be truly a game time call for the Bears, and the bye week looming, we could see a situation where a player who might tough it out in a different situation would actually sit and aim for health for the remainder of the schedule.
Even if he does play and is limited, we would see the Bears call on a new top wide out. That player would be speedy rookie Darnell Mooney, who has produced sporadically even with Robinson present thus far in his rookie campaign. He has seen at least five targets in seven consecutive games now, and seems to have had a breakthrough in the two most recent games.
He caught 10 passes for 112 yards and a score in those two games, His yardage total for this game sits at 42.5, which makes me comfortably lean to the over side and that will be a dedicated play. What won’t be a dedicated play if for him to score a touchdown at +220, but is a fun price if you;re looking for a little extra action.
Betting Pick: Over 42.5 receiving yards
