This co-main event is one I’m eagerly awaiting, and that is because it is a joy to watch the true development of Magomed Ankalaev.

Ankalaev is the best bet of anyone outside the top ten to be a future champion, and it is not sensational to say he might be the best bet overall for the future crown. His wrestling and grappling games are quite sound, but it is his striking that will own the day in this matchup with Nikita Krylov.

While Krylov is a well rounded veteran, I don’t believe he is on the level of Ankalaev. We have seen Ankalaev begin to throw his crisp and accurate strikes with more power of late, and that is simply terrible news for anyone taking a fight with him.

Krylov would likely need top position on the floor for periods of time to have any real chance in this fight. Ankalaev is the superior striker, is the superior wrestler and I might deem him the better grappler, and if not, there is no edge. We will see Ankalaev continue to climb his way to the top.
