Are New Milwaukee Bucks Uniforms Elite Or Ugly?
01 December 2020
The Milwaukee Bucks made waves on Tuesday when they released their new city edition jerseys for the 2020-2021 NBA season. Ditching the team’s traditional green and off-white colors, the uniform is certainly a unique one. Take a look at what the Bucks put together below and decide if you like what the team will be wearing this coming campaign.
Water appears to be the theme of this year’s Bucks city edition uniforms, specifically the water that exists in and around Milwaukee. According to the team’s first look at the jerseys, they are inspired by the rivers that run through the city as well as nearby Lake Michigan. The result is a color scheme that vaguely resembles that of the Cleveland Cavaliers before LeBron James arrived.
The numbers on the uniform are made to look like they are wet, though they are not. This was done with a coating applied to the numbers to create an optical illusion of sorts. Whether or not the replicas that fans can purchase will have the same effect applied to them remains to be seen, as that would certainly make this jersey one worth checking out whether you are a Bucks fan or not.
As is the case with any sports fashion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder here. Some fans might like the unique color scheme for a Bucks jersey, or at least appreciate the creativity it took to arrive there. Others might think that this jersey is a mess. Either way, the team will want to avoid sinking like the Titanic in the playoffs yet again this season.
Bucks Championship Odds
Regardless of what color uniforms they will be wearing this season, the Bucks are considered one of the favorites to win the NBA Finals again this year. At +550 odds, Milwaukee is behind only the Lakers, who are at +300 odds to repeat as champions. The LA Clippers are also at +550 to win the Finals.
The big question for the Bucks heading into this season is whether they can become more consistent in key moments. The lack of a jump shot from Giannis Antetokounmpo makes them much easier to guard in high-leverage situations than other title contenders. If the Bucks are going to reach their first NBA Finals as currently constructed, they will need a more multi-dimensional Giannis or for the likes of Khris Middleton and the supporting cast to contribute more consistently when it counts.
NBA Betting FAQ
While the Lakers are the favorites to repeat as NBA champions, it is hard to tell how they will mesh together this coming season. The loss of Dwight Howard as a backup center could loom large for them, and it is unclear as to how good Dennis Schroder might be now that he is on a contending team. There might be more value in some teams with longer odds this year, at least early on.
While not necessarily a longshot, the Brooklyn Nets at +600 odds to win the title could be intriguing now that they have a healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Celtics at +1300 are also worth a look given how close they were to reaching the Finals last year in the bubble. Without fans for a good chunk of this season at least, there could be plenty of surprises in the NBA this season.
Right now, sportsbooks are using win percentages rather than win totals given the uncertainty surrounding how many games will be played this NBA season. The Bucks’ win percentage total is set at 68.5%, meaning that they would have to win over two-thirds of their games to hit the over. Given the strange scheduling of this season and this team’s emphasis on the playoffs, this might be a win percentage bet to avoid even if the Bucks have the talent to get there. Unsurprisingly, the Bucks city edition uniforms will have no impact on the outcome of this bet.
