NHL Wednesday (8/19) night Parlay

The winning streak of 14 successful parlays came to an end as The Avalanche scored 7 goals against the Coyotes on Monday. Still, 14-1 is a pretty good record as we are aiming for another winning parlay tonight.

Tamba Bay Lightning defeated the Blue Jackets 2-1 in game 4 of Eastern Conference first round to make 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. All four games have been very tight and the game on Monday was no exception.

Andrei Vasilevskiy had to make 28 saves for the Lightning to secure the victory. Joonas Korpisalo (only) made 20 saves for the Blue Jackets so, in that sense, they were the better team but Tamba Bay were the more efficient.

Columbus Blue Jackets who knocked out the Toronto Maple Leafs in the qualification stage of the postseason, have proved that they are tough team to beat but now they are under pressure as the Lightning are up 3-1 as game 5 awaits.

The Blue Jackets have been close in all of the three defeats in this series and on Monday they did most things right except hitting the puck in the net. Now, they have a do-or-die game coming up but if they continue performing on this level they still stand a chance in this series.

Conclusion and betting play: The Columbus coach, John Tortorella, emphasized that they can not get frustrated and that they just have to make a couple more big offensive plays to score some goals.

I believe we will get to see a slightly riskier and desperate Columbus Blue Jackets in this game because it does takes a lot to score goals against Tamba Lightning. My prediction is that these presuppositions will help to make game 5 into a more open game than the previous ones.

Even though it has been a tight series, 4 goals or more were scored in the first 3 games. And even though Tampa Bay is solid in their defensive play, 4 goals or more have been scored in 6 out of their 7 previous games.

If the Lightning have the lead in the third period of this game the Blue Jackets will have to push forward even more, which is another reason to believe that 4 goals or more will be scored in this game.

Colorado Avalanche were completely superior the Coyotes when winning 7-1 in game 4 of the Western Conference first round. The number 2 seed are up 3-1 with a great chance of ending this series tonight.

Although, the first three games have been tight and it is unlikely that the Coyotes will give the Avalanche such a smooth ride in game 5. Just a small amount of underestimation of their opponent from the Colorado side could make a big difference.

Arizona Coyotes only managed to hit 15 shots on goal as they humiliated when losing 7-1 in game 4. But looking at their overall performances during the postseason this performance was far from what they are capable of.

The Coyotes won game 3 as they defended really well but all of that hard-working discipline was suddenly lost in game 4 and now they have come out and prove that that game only was an exception.

Conclusion and betting play: Colorado Avalanche are big favorites in this game but they ought to be prepared to face a much more inspired and energetic opponent compared to last game.

It is obvious that the Avalanche possess the higher level of these two teams but the difference is not 7-1. They won the first game 3-0 and the second game 3-2 while losing the third one 4-2. Those results are a more fair reflection of the relative strengths.

The Colorado team has been very solid throughout the season but they have not been able to score that many goals. Fact is that they have not scored more than 3 goals in 5 out of their 7 postseason games and less than 6.5 goals have been scored in 5 of these games as well. Also when it comes to the Coyotes, less than 6.5 goals have been scored in 6 out of their 8 games.
