NHL Sunday (8/23) night Parlay

We have two very interesting games to look forward to tonight as the Boston Bruins takes on the Tamba Bay Lightning followed by Vancouver Canucks versus Vegas Golden Knights in game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Most things point in the direction of a more defensive game between Boston and Tampa while the other game, most likely, will be more open. If these assumptions are right, this parlay pick ought to be successful.

Tamba Bay Lightning made a strong comeback in game 5 against the Columbus Blue Jackets where an overtime goal decided the series to make it 4-1. Another tough game is to be expected as the Lightning are now about to take on the Boston Bruins in game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Boston Bruins also won their first round series against the Carolina Hurricanes with an aggregate of 4-1 in total. The number one seed of the Eastern Conference was defeated in all three games of the round-robin stage but managed to step up when it really mattered as they successively have improved their game during the postseason.

Conclusions and betting play: Deciding a favorite of this series is very difficult. Boston Bruins were the overall better team during the regular season as they won the Eastern Conference 8 points ahead of the Lightning but latter ones won the round-robin encounter 3-2 and been looking slightly more impressive during the postseason so far.

It is almost a guarantee that this will be a tight series. These are two solid top-class hockey teams who have been performing on a high level, week in and week out, for a very long time.

The Lighting have won 6 out of 8 postseason games and 5 goals or less have been scored in 7 of these 8 games. 5 goals or less have been scored in 6 out of the Bruins’ 8 games. All in all, we have strong reasons to believe in a tight game where rather few goals will be scored.

Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and they have only lost one out of eight postseason games. They keep scoring lots of goals and might be the most impressive team of them all when looking at their overall performances of the postseason.

Vancouver Canucks defeated the defending Stanley Cup champions St. Louis Blues 6-2 on Friday to make it 4-2 in the series. They also knocked out the Minnesota Wild 4-1 in the play-in stage and overall their offensive play have been as impressive as their coming opponent Vegas Golden Knights.

Conclusions and betting play: The Vegas Golden Knights are the favorites in this series. Anyhow, most things point in the direction of a much-entertaining battle between two of the best offensive teams in the NHL.

Vegas Golden Knights have scored 4 goals or more in 6 out of their 8 postseason games. Vancouver Canucks have scored 10 goals in total in their 2 previous games and they have scored 2 goals or more in 9 out of their 10 postseason games.

Vegas should be the favorites in this series but the offensive skills that the Canucks possess is not easy to deal with for any team. I am quite confident that they will be able to score at least 2 goals also in this game.
