Game 2 of the Western Conference second round between the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche is coming up tonight and I find reasons to believe that the latter ones will step up after being defeated 5-3 in game 1. The Avalanche have scored 3 goals or more in 7 out of their 9 postseason games and, most likely, they will continue on that path.

Colorado Avalanche did not get up to the standard they are capable of in game 1 of the Western Conference second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They were defeated 5-3 by the Stars which was their third loss in nine posteason games.

The Avalanche, the number two seed of the conference, are the favorites in this series but they can not afford slowing down the pace. They will have to step up in game 2 and most likely they will.

Dallas Stars are the number three seed of the Western Conference and they proved in game 1 what they are capable of. It is not any team that can score five goals against the Avalanche but Stars have developed their attacking play during the postseason and have scored 19 goals in their previous 4 games.

Conclusion and betting play: These two teams have relied much upon their solid defensive play but when looking at their previous games they have both scored a lot of goals. The Avalanche have scored 17 goals in total in their past 3 games and the Stars have scored 19 goals in total in their past 4 games.

The Colorado goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer had to leave game 1 in the second period with an apparent leg injury and was replaced Pavel Francouz. Grubauer allowed 3 goals on 10 shots while Francouz allowed 2 goals and made 18 saves. An unlucky incident for the Avalanche but it should not affect them too much.

I am quite confident that we will get to see a much better performance by the Colorado team in game 2. The Avalanche have scored 3 goals or more in 7 out of their 9 postseason games and most likely they will able to do so in this game as well.
