Arizona Coyotes – Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames were defeated 3-2 on overtime by Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Joonas Korpisalo made 34 saves which stopped the Flames from scoring more than 2 goals.

They have lost 3 of their 4 previous games, but their ability to score has not been their biggest problem. Overall their last performance against was pretty good and they should stand a good chance of getting a better outcome when taking on the Coyotes tonight.

Arizona Coyotes have only conceded 180 goals this season which makes them the third-best team in the entire league. Lately, they have also started to score a lot of goals. Opposite to the Flames they have won 3 out of their past 4 games, scoring 17 goals in total.

On Wednesday they defeated the Canucks 4-2 and the game before that the Sabres were beaten 5-2. Their recent offensive ability makes them a tricky opponent to any team right now and the Flames will have a tough nut to crack.

Conclusions and betting play: At least 6 goals have been scored in 11 of the Flames past 13 games. In total 64 goals have been scored in their past 9 games which is an average of 7.11 goals per game.

On the other hand, the Coyotes are one of the best defensive teams in the league – but they have proven their attacking abilities lately.

To foresee a winner of this game is difficult but I believe we will get to see some high-quality ice hockey with both teams scoring a couple of goals each. Also, when looking at the odds I see a great value in this pick.

”My sense is that it will be more of a Kings kind of game than a Maple Leafs kind of game.” One should not be too cocky when being right but this Under 7.5 goals prediction is probably one of the safest bets ever played. How the game ended? LA Kings won a goalless game after penalty shootout.

The Lightning also did the job and defeated the Canadiens 4-0 in a game where they, most of all, were more efficient than their opponent. Montreal keeper Carey Price (only) made 19 saves and in that sense, margins were a little bit on my side to fulfill a successful parlay.

Game 1: Montreal Canadiens – Tamba Bay Lightning

Tamba Bay Lightning lost further margin towards top opponent Boston Bruins after being defeated 2-1 in a tough battle on Tuesday. This means they have lost 5 of their past 6 games.

Now the Lightnings have to step when playing at Amalie Arena for the fifth game in a row. For sure, they have the capacity to do so, even though they are still missing Steven Stamkos.

Montreal Canadiens enters this game after having defeated the Islanders 6-2 and the Hurricanes 4-3. Looking at their past 8 games the record reads WWLLWWLL.

The Canadiens form is obviously stronger than their coming opponent but all in all they are the weaker team. After 68 games played Montreal are on 71 points while The Lightnings is the fourth-best team in the league on 87 points and 66 games played.

Conclusions and betting play: Tamba Bay have scored 231 goals which makes them the second-best attacking team in the NHL. On average they score 3.88 goals per game when playing in their home arena.

Even though their form is not looking too good they have still scored more than 2.5 goals in 7 of their past 9 games. At the same time, the Canadiens have conceded more than 2.5 goals in 9 of their past 11 games. Also, Tamba Bay have defeated the Canadiens in 3 out of 3 games this season.

Game 2: Toronto Maple Leafs – Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles Kings have improved their game lately and takes on the Maple Leafs after winning 3 straight. Their 4-1 victory against Vegas on Sunday means they have only conceded 3 goals in their past 9 periods.

Although they have been defensively strong lately they still have only gathered more points than one team (Detroit) in the entire league.

Toronto Maple Leafs are the league’s top-scoring team, but considering their attacking abilities they should be in a better position than the current eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Obviously, they also concede a lot of goals and question is whether the Maple Leafs to break down a bravely battling LA Kings. They lost against San José Sharks on Tuesday and another tough road game should be expected tonight.

Conclusions and betting play: This is a very interesting battle between two opposites in terms of styles of play. My sense is that it will be more of a Kings kind of game than a Maple Leafs kind of game.

The Kings have structured their defensive play very well lately and if they can repeat that tonight they will stand a good chance of neutralizing Toronto’s offensive skills.

Even though Toronto scores and concedes a lot of goals 10 of their 12 last games have ended under 7.5 goals. Los Angeles have conceded only 1 goal in 4 of their 5 last games.

Wednesday Review

I was not too surprised to see Anaheim beating big favorites Colorado. However, I had expected a bit fewer goals but it ended 3-3 after 60 minutes which was good enough for my under 6.5 goal bet.

Margins were not on my side in the other game where Calgary won 3-2 on overtime. Both teams record lately strongly indicated that this could be a high scoring game but Joonas Korpisalo made 34 saves for the Blue Jackets. He was the major reason why only 4 goals were scored after three periods.

Game 1: Columbus Blue Jackets – Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames climbed up on the sixth place in the Western Conference after beating Florida Panthers while coming opponent, the Blue Jackets, defeated their Conference rival Vancouver Canucks.

Only three goals were scored when The Flames won 3-0 on Sunday, which is the same winning result they gained in their last and only meeting with Columbus this season. However, that game was back in November and when looking at both of these teams’ recent results the pattern speaks for a game with more goals in both ends.

Columbus Blue Jackets are in a very similar position as the Flames both in terms of form and actual position in the league. They are currently the eighth-best team in the Eastern Conference on 78 points after 67 games played. (Calgary are on 75 points in 67 games).

Looking at the past four games their records are identical: WLLW. Also when looking at these two teams’ last games the high number of goals scored has a similar pattern.

What makes the Blue Jackets stand out when analyzing their entire season is their low number of goals scored and conceded (175-179). But their last eight games indicates an obvious change of direction.

Conclusions and betting play: In The Blue Jackets’ last eight games 54 goals have been scored which gives an average of 6.75 goals per game. At least 6 goals have been scored in seven of these eight games.

At least 6 goals have also been scored in eleven of The Flames last twelve games. 58 goals have been scored in their last 8 games which gives an average of 7.25 goals per game.

All in all, we have a pretty strong reason to believe that there will be more than 4.5 goals when these, in many terms, equal opponents goes head to head tonight.

Game 2: Anaheim Ducks – Colorado Avalanche

9.30 PM ET, Wednesday 4th of March

Colorado Avalanche is back playing at home at Pepsi Center after a three-game and three wins away tour. This means they are on seven games winning streak and only three points behind St. Louis with two games less played at the top of the Western Conference.

Their form is undoubtedly and what sticks out most is their defensive stability and their away results. They are NHL’s third-best team conceding only 173 goals in 65 games and the best team in the entire league when playing away.

As a matter of fact, the Avalanches have gained more points per game when playing away (1.4 points) compared to their home games (1.25 points). Although they won their last two home games before that they had lost three in a row.

Anaheim Ducks flies in after loosing 6-2 against Chicago on Tuesday aiming to kick back after two defeats in a row. They are really struggling this season being second last in the Western Conference – but they have been standing up very well against the Avalanches in both previous meetings.

The last meeting played less than two weeks ago, ended 0-0 after 60 minutes with Colorado winning on overtime. The first game played in October at the Pepsi Center, The Ducks won 5-2.

Conclusions and betting play: Considering previous meetings and the Avalanches home stats this may become a tougher task than expected for the Colorado team. They have wone seven games in a row but only one of these ended with a difference of more than one goal.

3, 5, 5, 5, 2, 1, 4. Those are the number of goals scored in total in Colorado’s last seven games. Also, 13 of their last 14 games ended with under 5.5 goals in total.

These stats are pretty solid arguments for the under play.
