Time:7:30 PM ET
Venue:Hard Rock Stadium

Spread:Miami -11
O/U:53.5

The 0-1 Florida State Seminoles will go on the road to face off with the 2-0 12th-ranked Miami Hurricanes at 7:30 PM ET in Hard Rock Stadium. You can catch the rivalry on ABC and College Gameday will be there prior.

It’s been a very different start to the season for these two teams. The Seminoles were upset at home in week one while the Hurricanes are coming off a win against ranked Louisville. Let’s dive into how this one will play out and who will cover.

When the Florida Seminoles Have The Ball

The Seminoles were miserable offensively against Georgia Tech and that was before they were dinged up. Miami is rolling right now and this offense isn’t going to be slowed down by a defense that made Jeff Sims look incredible. Give me the ‘Canes all day here up to 13 points.

The Florida State Seminoles have been disappointing by just about every measure since Jimbo Fisher left. The hype train was back on track this season before they lost to Georgia Tech in week one. The Seminoles were 14-point favorites and couldn’t even muster up 14 themselves.

They lost 16-13 to the Yellow Jackets and allowed 438 total yards to an offense that was inept in 2019. The ‘Noles turned it over three times and James Blackman looked like a freshman. Hope isn’t necessarily lost here as the talent is obvious, and the experience of James Blackman should prevail. The Yellow Jackets played a much different game than expected and the FSU defense struggled to adjust.

Against Miami, the Blackman to Tamorion Terry connection has to get going. He’s the biggest weapon on the field for the Seminoles and they have to figure out how to get him involved with Cam Akers in the NFL. The defense also has to step up as Miami is lethal and they won’t allow FSU to breathe for a second.

When The Miami Hurricanes Have The Ball

The Hurricanes solidified themselves as the real deal last weekend as they dominated the Louisville Cardinals 47-34 in a game they led from start to finish. It was an offensive display as both teams surpassed 450 yards and 300+ through the air. It came down to Miami winning the turnover battle 3-0 and giving the offense phenomenal field position on multiple occasions.

D’Eriq King is one of the three best QBs in college football and you’re foolish if you question that. He threw for 325 yards and three scores against Louisville and didn’t even show off his legs. Cam’ron Harris rushed just nine times for 134 yards and a touchdown, averaging a whopping 13.4 yards per carry.

The Canes are playing extremely fast and spreading the ball around. Eight different receivers have caught passes to this point with TE Brevin Jordan (10 rec, 171 yds, 2 TD) leading the way. He’s an easy target that turns nothing into something and he makes a difference in the red zone. Mark Pope and Mike Harley are home run hitters and King will take a couple of shots throughout the contest.

The Hurricanes will run into a slightly tougher defense in the Seminoles, but that won’t stop King and co. from putting up points. If Miami plays their game, they are the marginally better team on both sides of the ball and they should win the rivalry bout with ease.

Spread Prediction

The Pick: Miami -11

The Hurricanes will run into a slightly tougher defense in the Seminoles, but that won’t stop King and co. from putting up points. If Miami plays their game, they are the marginally better team on both sides of the ball and they should win the rivalry bout with ease.

I like the Miami Hurricanes to control this game from the get go. This is a rivalry game and while both teams will come out on fire, the Hurricanes are the far more talented squad. They also have immaculate chemistry and we haven’t seen that out of FSU since Winston left the team.

Give me Miami all day here. They’re the far better team and this is one of my favorite bets of the week. Florida State is thought to be a sleeping giant by some, but they sleep too much for my liking. D’Eriq King is a CFB superstar and he’s still not getting enough attention from the public. He will after this week as the Hurricanes blowout the Seminoles and look to work into the top-10.

Total Prediction

The Miami offense is going to do work against FSU, even though they might be a slightly better defense than Louisville. King hasn’t even showed off his versatility to this point and that’s a whole different animal when he does. The run game is working well behind the line and I don’t se the Canes being held under 30 points. The Noles might not have as much success, but they’re still going to score on an average-at-best Miami defense.

The Pick: Over 53.5
Final Score Prediction: Miami 38, FSU 20
