Indian Wells Masters

UPDATE!!! Due to the Corona Virus pandemic Indian Wells 2020 has been postponed and we await further information from ATP regarding if and when this tournament will be played.

Indian Wells Masters is the first 1000 ATP event of the year and one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments on the ATP calendar. The official tournament name is BNP Paribas Open after the main sponsor of the event BNP (Banque National de Paris) Paribas.

Indian Wells Masters was first played in 1987 and has since then been a returning event on the ATP tour. The charismatic German Boris Becker snatched the first two titles in -87 and -88. Federer and Djokovic are the most successful players with 5 titles each.

Dominic Thiem won his first ATP tour masters 1000 event at the Indian Wells 2019 masters. After reaching the Australian Open final 2020 (lost to Djokovic) he is one of the favorites to defend his Indian Wells Masters title together with the Big Three (Nadal, Djokovic & Federer).
