DraftKings Inc. recently announced that it will unveil its mobile and online sportsbook in New York on Saturday, January 8, becoming one of the first companies to do so in the Empire State. The launch coincides with the NFL Playoffs, one of the peak periods for betting activities.

Customers aged 21 and above will be able to place wagers on multitudes of sports matches, including pre-match and in-game markets, through DraftKings. This encompasses same-game parlays and micro-betting as a result of DraftKings' completion of its transition to its in-house bet platform.
The New York state has one of the biggest sports cultures in the world, with millions of enthusiastic sports fans, and is home to ten professional sports teams from six major leagues, with an additional three clubs located within 15 miles of New York City.

Paving way for online sports betting in NY
Former Governor Andrew Cuomo authorized a budget for the fiscal year 2022 in April 2020, which included legal online betting, making room for legal mobile wagering in New York.
Aside from DraftKings, the New York State Gaming Commission announced that Caesars, FanDuel, and Rush Street Interactive have met all regulatory standards to begin offering wagers in the state for mobile sports betting and iGaming.
“The NYS Gaming Commission announced today that four licensed Mobile Sports Wagering Operators – Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Rush Street Interactive – have satisfied all statutory and regulatory requirements necessary to accept and process mobile sports wagering activity and have been approved to commence operations with launch effective no earlier than Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time,” the commission said in a statement.
The commission approved 9 sports betting companies in November 2021 to finally provide mobile sports wagering in New York, but the remaining sportsbooks such as Bally Sports and BetMGM, are reportedly not yet ready.
DraftKings launched a 6,000-square-foot retail sportsbook at del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, New York, in August 2019. The retail space is also equipped with outstanding facilities such as LED video screens, bar and restaurant, ticket windows, and 23 self-service betting stations.
