Betting odds and tips for NFL preseason week 3
August 25, 2022
NFL preseason Week 3 will be the last week before the regular season starts. There are 15 scheduled games, and the first two matches will be held on August 25.
The first game will be between the Green Bay Packers against the Kansas City Chiefs, while the San Francisco 49ers will have a matchup against the Houston Texans in the second game. Another exciting match to take place during Week 3 is between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Here are NFL predictions for some of the upcoming matches.
Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
This Thursday Night Football Showdown will feature a matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers lost their first preseason game but were able to turn things against the Saints 20-10 last weekend. After a disorganized Week 1 performance, QB Jordan Love showed some improvements in the match against the Saints. He received most of the snaps and finished with a 50 percent completion rate for 113 yards and a score.
The Chiefs also won their most recent match. In the game against the Washington Commanders, starting QB Patrick Mahomes led two drives, the first of which went 87 yards for a touchdown and the second drive covered 82 yards. Backup CB Chris Lammons led the Chiefs' defense with five tackles and two PDs.
Heading into the game, the Chiefs are the slight favorites, sitting at -120 on the moneyline, while the Packers are currently +100.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Houston Texans
The San Francisco 49ers will be heading to Houston to clash against the Houston Texans after snatching a 17-7 win against the Minnesota Vikings. While Trey Lance did not play last week, Nate Sudfeld completed 13 of 17 passes for 102 yards and a score.
The Houston Texans, meanwhile, pocketed two narrow wins against the Rams and the Saints. Second-year receiver Nico Collins had four catches for 48 yards last week, including a touchdown catch. QB Davis Mills also performed well by completing 10-of-17 passes for 96 yards.
There is a likely chance that Lance will still be unavailable for the match, which should give the Texans an easier time. However, DraftKings predicts that the 49ers (-165) will win the game against the Texans (+140) regardless.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Los Angeles Rams had to swallow a defeat against the Houston Texans last Friday. In that match, Rams Head Coach Sean McVay gave the new recruits a chance to play on the field, such as rookie NB Cobie Durant who performed two tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a pass defended, and a quarterback hit.
The Cincinnati Bengals, on the other hand, also allowed their younger players to play last week. Rookie Dax Hill performed six tackles, a pass breakup and an interception. Another rookie, Kwamie Lassiter II, received seven passes for 91 yards off seven targets.
According to DraftKings, the Rams (+115) are the underdogs against the Bengals (-135) in this preseason match.
